Picture taken after farewell banquet, Sportsman's Club', Fort
Campbell, May 1995. Note the outstanding wall art in the center, a 4' x 4'
piece of plywood that came down from Cleveland with an old style Comanchero
patch for the occasion, thanks to Martin DiOrio and Larry Cooper and families.
Rachel Torrance, blue dress center, no cigar. The distinguished gentleman in
the center with cigar is retired Lt Gen Teddy Allen, who was assigned to
Company A, 101st Aviation Battalion from July - September 1966, serving as the
platoon leader of the Thunderbirds and gun platoon from October '66 to April
'67, then closed out the tour as operations officer for the 336th Warriors of
Soc Trang. From May '87 thru August '89, Teddy commanded the 101st Airborne
Division (Air Assault). During the Reagan years, he was the director of the
Defense Security Assistance Agency, the agency that basically covers all
foreign military sales. Teddy was the guest speaker for the evening, and we
gave him a specially cast bronze eagle head "bell". Something else,
Teddy is also a former "Wings of the Eagle" battalion commander, and
he once also commanded the Phoenix, (C/158). One of our most distinguished
former unit officers.

A memorial display at the podium for the
May '95 "Memorial Service" in hanger 10, Destiny Army Heliport,
flawlessly arranged by the unit first sergeant and battalion sergeant major.
Note: On May 16th, 1995, the day
before the reunion, a series of thunderstorms swept through the area. Lightning
actually struck the hanger and came into the A/101 orderly room. No one was
hurt. There are no recorded instances of lightning having struck there before
or since.
