Returning to the alert pad from Dalat with a load of beer, he overshot the pad (due possibly to being overgrossed) and crashed into the compound perimeter and into a minefield. His inertial reel failed and his head went through the window. His throat was slashed and he bled to death without gaining consciousness. Several of the people in the compund risked their lives to pull everyone out as there was a post crash fire and the ammo started cooking off. The rest of the crew got out. From Kenny Bunn, 28 July 9
